Why Prefeasibility Studies?
Prior to beginning a project, it is important to consider which solution will be the best fit for your reservoir and individual challenges. All the EOR methods should be considered (Chemical, thermal, gas, etc.).
IFP Canada and Beicip-Franlab’s experience have been capitalized developing powerful EOR screening tools (analytical and software), which encompasses reservoir and fluid parameters to be considered in chemical and non-chemical EOR projects. Such tools allow us to rank all EOR methods in an objective way and indicates the killing factors. The tools are continuously enhanced through the results of publication surveys, internal R&D results and our wide experiences in more than 200 field studies.
Once the best fields and corresponding EOR processes have been selected, a more detailed screening study reviewing geology, reservoir and production data will confirm or infirm the preliminary conclusions.
Analytical calculations will be performed whenever possible to support the analysis.
EOR experience in potential analogues fields will be analyzed. Recommendations will be made as to the EOR methods that appear to be best suited to the fields.
To evaluate the potential performance and simplified economics of various Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) methods pre-selected for the studied reservoir, simulations will be conducted using cross-sectional model built from existing reservoir models.
